A dental veneer is a thin porcelain covering that is placed over the front side of a tooth. They are similar to an artificial fingernail. Veneers can create a beautiful smile by dramatically improving the appearance of your teeth. Dental veneers can be used to help correct:
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Spaces between teeth
- Stained or discolored fillings
- Permanently discolored teeth due to genetics or medications,
- Misshaped or crooked teeth
- Dark yellow or stained teeth
Veneers are nice because they require less tooth structure to be removed than does a crown. Veneers also look like real natural teeth. They are usually not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little remaining tooth structure, and work best for patients who do not have a history of clenching or grinding.
